River Friendly Farm certification has become an integral part of our farming efforts at our Mountain Valley Preserve in the Sourland Mountains. Although our 15 acres is somewhat paltry in comparison to much larger farms, the need to protect our water quality and resources, especially in this fragile area, is equally critical to all. For our tree farm, we recognize how important the habitat is for promoting our harvests but needed more direction for our forests to be complemented by healthy soil, quality water, and pest/invasive controls at an affordable cost.
