Charlize and Bru Katzenbach own 26 acres, about half is woodland and half is pasture. Their farm is nestled in the unique and aptly named Sourland Mountains in Hopewell; by making the most of this rugged landscape, they have masterfully fused agriculture and forestry. This family sells maple syrup, wood products and maintain a flock of Barbados Blackbelly sheep, a Livestock Conservancy Priority List breed of Caribbean hair (meat) sheep. Most of their purebred lambs, registered with the Barbados Blackbelly Sheep Association International, are sold to create new flocks, a few are sold for meat. Sweet Sourland Farm was certified River Friendly at the end of 2012.
